We've Been Busy at VOX Femina!

Updated: Feb 25

March was a busy month for VOX!

Thank you so much to those of you who attended our Spring concert, Heavenly Bodies, on March 4th at the First Congregational Church of Los Angeles. Our second subscription concert of the season was a great success, with the audience enjoying a repertoire ranging from the ethereal compositions of Morten Lauridsen and Erik Esenvalds to a fiery anthem celebrating the Sumerian Moon Goddess by frequent collaborator, Jocelyn Hagen - all within the setting of the beautiful FCCLA sanctuary.

On Friday, March 16th, VOX was honored to sing at the American Choral Directors Association conference. Surrounded by choral directors and educators from across the western region, the women of VOX Femina took to the stage to perform in the auspicious Saturday evening concert, where they sang their hearts out and were greeted with a standing ovation from the audience - high praise indeed!

The following weekend, on March 25th, VOX participated in the Mount Saint Mary's University Women In Music Festival. The festival brought together a diverse group of women artists at the Doheny Mansion for discussions, workshops, and performances to celebrate the power of music as a vehicle for positive social change. Performers included Grammy Award-winning folk singer Rhiannon Giddens and hip hop/son jarocho artist Maya Jupiter, with VOX closing the festival. Below is a video of VOX and the Mount Singers performing, appropriately, "And Ain't I A Woman" by Susan Borwick:

And finally... our Founder and Artistic Director, Dr. Iris Levine, has accepted a promotion to Dean of the College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences at Cal Poly Pomona. We congratulate her on this great honor!

Just wait until you see what April & May have in store!
