VOX Femina receives NEA Art Works Grant

VOX Femina Los Angeles is a proud recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts' 2019 Art Works grant. VOX was awarded a $10,000 grant to support our exciting November concert, Voices Awakened: da Vinci, Vivaldi, VOX, featuring music from the 17th and 18th centuries and a new commission by renowned composer Jocelyn Hagen, entitled The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci.

Hagen's new composition breathes life into Leonardo da Vinci's notebooks, utilizing an innovative syncing technology that seamlessly blends picture to music. Immerse yourself in the wonder of da Vinci's observations, inventions and musings in what will be an unforgettable multimedia experience. Learn more here.

Another generous grant from the Colburn Foundation supports the first half of the concert, which features music from the Ospedali, written for young orphaned women in Venice and highlighting Antonio Vivaldi's exquisite music and text. VOX will be joined for this concert, in the beautiful sanctuary of the First Congregational Church of Los Angeles, by male singers from the College of the Canyons and Pasadena City College, as well as a treble chorus from Mira Costa High School.
